There are lots of dogs body language signs that help you understand your pet more. It takes us years of practice to instinctively know where our pets are coming from. Some of the signals are quite subtle and just sometimes they can catch us out.
This infographic is useful.
One of the biggest lessons I ever learned is to listen to your dog or any dog. Although a dogs body language is a sure fire way of knowing what your dog is feeling, a low growl is very often the warning sign we should all heed. Growling is simply a warning, dogs really don’t want trouble and they will often lift their lips as the sign that they want to be left alone. How many unfortunate dogs have suffered at the hands of humans because of this one action? The poor dog was simply telling the person (child?) or other animal to back off.
